Who we are

ClipTrip is a travel-planning service that helps you discover places, plan and run trips, and book travel. This policy applies to our iOS app and our website (cliptrip.ai).

Information we collect

Account & profile: your name, email, phone, date of birth, home location, profile photo and language.

Trips & content: the trips, itineraries, places, notes, expenses, chat messages, reviews and documents you add.

Location: when you opt in, your device location to record a trip's GPS track and to share your live position with fellow travellers. It is used for these features only and you can turn it off at any time.

Imported content: links you share (for example Instagram, TikTok or YouTube) so we can extract the places in them.

Payments: subscription and billing details are handled by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.

Usage & device: basic analytics, device and log data to operate and improve the service.

How we use your information

To provide and improve the service — build itineraries, route trips, estimate budgets, generate recaps, power the AI assistant, send notifications and process subscriptions; to keep the service secure; and to communicate with you about your account.

Legal bases (EEA/UK)

Where the GDPR applies, we process your data to perform our contract with you, with your consent (for example location and marketing), to comply with legal obligations, and for our legitimate interests in operating and improving ClipTrip.

How we share information

We share data with service providers who help us run ClipTrip, including cloud hosting, our payment provider (Stripe), the AI providers that power the assistant, mapping and place-data providers (such as Google), email and SMS providers, and analytics and error-monitoring tools. Trip data you choose to share is visible to the participants you invite, and trips you publish appear on Shared Trips. We do not sell your personal data.

Affiliate links & commissions

ClipTrip earns commissions when you book travel — flights, hotels, tickets, trains, cruises and similar — through links in the app. These links take you to third-party partners (such as Aviasales/Travelpayouts, Booking.com and GetYourGuide). When you follow one, the partner may set cookies and receive booking information to attribute the sale. Using these links never costs you more, and our recommendations are not paid placements.

Cookies & similar technologies

Our website uses cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your language and measure usage. Affiliate partners may set their own cookies when you click a booking link. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account we delete your personal data, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal, security or accounting obligations.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can edit your profile and delete your account in the app, or contact us. You can withdraw location consent at any time in your profile.

Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

ClipTrip is not intended for children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

International transfers

We may process and store your information in countries other than your own. Where required, we apply appropriate safeguards to such transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the date above; significant changes may also be notified in the app.
